OUR AUTOGRAPH IN THE SEA
OUR AUTOGRAPH IN THE SEA

We have been exploring the seas for over 300 years. What started with one ship has grown into a magnificent fleet. For centuries, the Aponte family has continued to devote themselves to sailing the oceans. In 1970 she founded the Mediterranean Shipping Company, which is now the second largest container ship in the world. With such a rich maritime heritage and love for the sea, MSC Cruises was founded in 1988 and has become one of the fastest growing cruise lines in the world with a fleet of 12 ships.

  • - Our captains must have at least 11 years of navigation experience, have worldwide cargo handling experience and undergo rigorous ongoing training programs;
    - Selective selection of personnel and continuous training of personnel provide high quality service;
    - Our liners cover more than 1000 routes around the world;
    - Elegantly decorated interiors with natural stone and marble, mostly from Italy;
    - Top quality fabrics, gold leaf and Swarovski crystal stairs;
    - More cabins with balconies with sea views than on the ships of other cruise lines;
    - An ecological cruise company with innovative energy saving and water recycling systems installed on our ships;
    - More than 11 million tourists have already enjoyed a cruise with MSC.

STATE SECURITY

Proud heirs to a unique maritime heritage, MSC Cruises nurtures the longstanding values of maritime professionalism in all of our teams at all levels. We support them throughout their careers to ensure their experience is carefully honed and constantly updated. We equip the liners with the most advanced navigation and safety technologies.

For example, our state-of-the-art ships are equipped with an innovative route monitoring system that uses satellite technology to transmit the vast amount of data provided on board to MSC Cruises Maritime Operations headquarters in Sorrento. Here, the QPS server system sends information to yet another array of complex systems, including the Quaestor route preparation and analysis tool.

It constantly monitors and analyzes the vessel’s position, speed, course, depth, current and other parameters of the surrounding waters, as well as the position of any other vessels within a 40-mile radius. As a result, all of our ships always follow a completely safe course, whether cruising, maneuvering, piloting or docking. These state-of-the-art solutions transmit complete data from the engine control center and on-board meteorological systems both to the bridge and to Sorrento.

ECO LINERS

We have great respect for the oceans of the world, and as we travel around the world, we are constantly striving to reduce our impact on the environment. Through the use of modern technologies and environmentally friendly materials, we effectively reduce the environmental impact of our cruises. We strongly believe that from using the highest quality fuel available in ports, to efficiency improvement technologies, to our advanced on-board waste management systems, the responsibility to be more environmentally responsible is growing.

That’s why we’re constantly working to reduce our impact on board and ashore, and optimize cruise itineraries to help reduce fuel consumption.

The most effective way to save fuel while cruising is to reduce water resistance. MSC Cruises uses a special paint on the hulls of all of its ships to prevent hull contamination and significantly reduce drag.

Our voyage planning and monitoring system allows us to perform route analysis and track each of our vessels with an update rate of one second and an accuracy of less than five meters. By monitoring technical data such as power and fuel consumption, we effectively reduce CO2 emissions.
